So far I have only been able to travel to South America once. While the duration was only three weeks, I found the places I visited to be truly magical.

That trip was the realization of dreams I had as a young boy. Top of the list was a lonely land mass forgotten deep in the South Pacific: Rapa Nui, or as it is more commonly known as 'Easter Island'. An island whose closest inhabited neighbour is a mere 1200 miles across the ocean. An island shrouded in mystery but vigilantly protected by an army of stone sentinels: the Moai - the mysterious stone figures hand carved from one of the island's Volcanoes

The trip also ventured into the heart of the Incan empire - High above Peru's Urubamba Valley and to the Lost City at Machu Picchu. A fortress built high in the clouds which served as a refuge during the Spanish conquests. Its location is hidden most of the day by a shroud of cloud cover and to see the clouds part to reveal the Incan masterpiece is truly spiritual.
